Generally used as a military term, the Tip of the Spear often refers to the front-line warriors, the first ones to see battle. The term is even more coveted when it is adopted by US Special Forces units such as the Navy SEALS, Army Rangers and Green Berets, Delta Force and select fighter and bomber wings of the Air Force. The term is not commonly associated with “everyday civilians;” however, if you take the military context out of it, Cambridge Dictionary defines the Tip of the Spear as “a person or a group of people that is the first to do something that is considered difficult or dangerous,” or, “the leading position that someone or a group of people is in where there is a possibility of something difficult or dangerous happening.”
In our current world, it is unsafe and naïve to bury our heads in the sand, or watch the news and say “yeah but that’s a big city, that would never happen here,” or “that’s in the middle of nowhere, that would never happen here.” Here, can be anywhere, and at any time, any person may find themselves in the leading position where there is something difficult or dangerous happening.
Our goal is not to make battle hardened warriors out of our communities, but to conduct security based analyses for a range custom tailored needs, and to provide security / target hardening knowledge, information, planning, and situation specific training at the corporate, institutional, small business and personal / residential levels. Equipped with this information, and a newfound confidence and mindset to support it, everybody can be the Tip of the Spear.
